Info for the donor mare’s owner
Draagmerriecentrale has a database of donor mares, namely the biological mothers. We select the acceptor mares by checking their health status and their character. They are chipped, vaccinated and de-wormed. We have only relatively young and enough grown warmblood mares.
Our method is to make three receiving acceptor mares aviable to synchronize with the period of the donor mare. Once the embryo is collected from the biological mother, the acceptor mare with the most suitable period is chosen as the receiver. You and the acceptor mare\’s owner are required to formalize the agreement before the date set for the implant. The mare remains property of the owner. The rent agreed with the acceptor mares owner and the draagmerriecentrale agency fee must be paid before the custody of the mare takes place.’;
After 45-50 days of pregnancy, the donor mares owner hosts and takes care of the acceptormare. Henceforth, he will be wholly responsible of the pregnant mares health.For this reason, an insurance policy on the fetus and/or in case of death of the mare is highly recommended.

After the foal weaning, the broodmare should be returned to its following owner. This usually happens five months after the birth of the foal.
